India batsman Virat Kohli becomes the joint fastest with viv Richards to reach 5,000 One-Day International (ODI) runs when he reached the landmark against the West Indies in the second ODI at Kochi on Thursday.

He took 114 innings to reach the feat. In what has been a spectacular year for the Delhi batsman, Kohli has gone on to amass more than 1,000 runs in the 50-over format, including four centuries.

He has played a crucial role along with openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma in India’s spectacular run of form since the ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
