Virat Kohli becomes Kagiso Rabada’s 1st wicket on Day 1 of India vs South Africa 2015, 1st Test

Virat Kohli was dismissed for four-ball one on Day 1 of the first Test vs South Africa in Mohali on Thursday. His wicket fell immediately after the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara who got out for 31 from 66 deliveries. While part-time spinner Dean Elgar removed the latter, it was 20-year-old Kagiso Rabada who continued to trouble Kohli and bagged his first Test wicket. Kohli who turned 27 today in return gave a gift to the youngster in the form of his crucial wicket. The Indian skipper’s dismissal left India at 63 for 2 and brought in Ajinkya Rahane, who joined Murali Vijay. Earlier, the hosts won the toss and elected to bat. It is Kohli’s first series at home as the Indian Test captain and unfortunately for the birthday boy, he hasn’t had the greatest of the starts. Rabada who was his wicket-taker bagged a big wicket on his debut for South Africa in the whites and undoubtedly, he’ll cherish this moment for a very long time. He was quite impressive in the limited-overs series last month for South Africa, with a couple of match-winning spells as the visitors sealed both—One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) series.

In the first Test, both India and South Africa decided to field as many as five bowlers. While India decked up their bowling attack with three spinners in the five-pronged attack, the South Africans decided to go ahead with three pacers. Alongwith Rabada, South Africa have Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander in their attack.
