Virat Kohli might step up to help die-hard Pakistani fan get bail: Reports

Virat Kohli might step up to help his fan from Pakistan, Umar Daraz, who has been jailed to hoist India’s flag during Kohli’s innings in the first Twenty International (T20I) between India and Australia at Adelaide on January 26. He easily went against Pakistan’s law and was jailed for being fan of an Indian cricketer. The incident has been discussed across the cricket fraternity and meanwhile Kohli starred in the first two T20Is of their three-match series against Australia to help India seal the series with the final match to be played on Sunday at Sydney. According to Deccan Chronicle, Kohli’s brother Vikas Kohli has admitted to seek Kohli’s views on whether to help his die-hard fan in Pakistan or not. “Yes, we have heard about this incident and feel sorry for the fan. I shall certainly seek Virat’s views after the match on Friday. We will also consult the right people and decide whether to approach the Pakistan government. We are in a family function today and can’t think of the right people to be identified for this appeal at this moment but will surely speak to Virat,” he said.

Earlier, regional police officer Faisal Rana confirmed that Umar Daraz was charged under Pakistan’s penal code for acting against Pakistan’s sovereignty and could face up to at least 10 years in prison and a fine.
