India captain Virat Kohli wants the BCCI to change its policy allowing wives of players a stay of two weeks on overseas tours. He has reportedly placed a request with the Indian cricket board to extend the stay to full overseas tours.

Kohli spoke about the issue with a top BCCI official first who then turned to Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA). Indian team manager Sunil Subramaniam was then asked by the CoA to make a formal request.

“The request was made a few weeks back but as it is a BCCI policy decision, the manager will have to submit a formal request first. Anushka (Sharma) has been travelling with Kohli overseas, however, Kohli now wants the old rule to be abolished and a new policy should come up where wives should be allowed to travel with the Indian team,” The Indian Express quoted a source as saying on Sunday.

The report added that since it’s a policy decision, the CoA is in no rush to make the changes. The decision is not expected until the formation of a new BCCI body.

Earlier this year, the BCCI had decided that the wives and girlfriends will be allowed to be with their partners for a period of 14 days on overseas tours.
