Virat Kohli slams his maiden Test century in fourth Test at Adelaide

India s middle-order batsman Virat Kohli on Thursday scored his maiden Test century during the fourth Test match against Australia at the Adelaide Oval, and helped his side stage a fightback after an early slump.

Kohli completed his century off 199 balls and struck eight boundaries and a six during his innings.

He added 114 runs for the sixth wicket with Wriddhiman Saha to bail his side out of trouble when they were left reeling at 122 for five with the quick dismissals of Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman.

Before this innings, Kohli had scored 353 runs in seven Test matches at an average of 27.15.

Brief Scores: Australia 604 for 7 dec (Ricky Ponting 221, Michael Clarke 210, Brad Haddin 42*; Ravichandran Ashwin 3 for 194) lead India 245 for 8 (Virat Kohli 102*, Wriddhiman Saha 35, Gautam Gambhir 34; Peter Siddle 5 for 43) by 359 runs.
