Run-machine Virat Kohli was back to his best when he completed his 26th century in One-Day International (ODI) cricket, during the third of India s five-match series against New Zealand at Mohali. Kohli achieved the feat at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali in his 174th ODI for India. This is Kohli s 16th century while chasing, and he is now only one behind batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who struck 17 tons for India while chasing in ODI cricket. Chasing 286 to win, India were 221 for 3 after 41 overs, requiring another 65 runs to win and take a crucial 2-1 lead in the series. LIVE Cricket Scorecard, India vs New Zealand, 3rd ODI at Mohali

This is not the only flirtation which Kohli had on Sunday with records, as he became the quickest batsman to bring up 3,000 ODI runs while playing at home. Kohli took 63 ODIs to achieve the feat, surpassing former India captain Sourav Ganguly (70 ODIs) and his friend and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate AB de Villiers (71 ODIs). Kohli, who has cemented his reputation as one of the best batsmen in ODI chases, has ensured that 13 out of his 16 centuries while in pursuit have resulted in victories for India.

Kohli has been in rich form since the third Test against New Zealand in this big India Cricket season. After remaining quiet in the first two Tests, Kohli roared with his second double century in Test cricket, smashing 211 at Indore. In the first ODI of this series, he scored a fine unbeaten 85 to guide India to a big 6-wicket win.
