Virat Kohli has been on a record-breaking spree in the series against Sri Lanka. During his knock of 50 in the second innings at Kolta, Kohli surpassed one of Sunil Gavaskar s long-standing record as captain. Kohli in the Delhi match alone scored 293 runs, which is highest aggregate for any Indian captain. Gavaskar made 289 runs against West Indies in Mumbai, 1978.

Kohli also finishes with the series with 610 runs, fourth most for any batsmen in a 3-Test series. Before this Kohli s highest aggregate in a match was 256 that came against Australia in Adelaide during 2014-15 series. Others in the top 10 list other than Gavaskar and Kohli are Sachin Tendulkar (232) and Dhoni (224).
