Sharma, has also been rested from the Indian side keeping in mind the grueling four-match Test series in the West Indies next month, took to Twitter to wish the team. “Best wishes to team India for their tour to Zimbabwe @BCCI,” Rohit tweeted. Limited overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the lone senior member in an otherwise rookie side, which misses big names like Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh.

India’s tour of Zimbabwe is an ideal preparation to give emerging players an opportunity to comprehend the pressure at the international level. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, India lost three back-back-back ODI series against Bangladesh, South Africa and Australia, followed by an unsuccessful ICC World T20 2016 campaign on their home turf. Last time India tasted victory in ODIs was against Zimbabwe in 2015, under Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy.
