Hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spinner Yuzvendra Chahal‘s 4 for 25, along with Virat Kohli‘s colossal knock of 113, allowed RCB to demolish visitors Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 82 runs, in Match 50 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Earlier, persistent and heavy rain led to a delayed start to the game, with 15 over to be played for, as KXIP skipper Murali Vijay won the toss and elected to bowl first, while RCB posted a mammoth total of 211 for the loss of three wickets in 15 overs, courtesy of a blistering knock of 113 from skipper Kohli. KXIP were off to a shaky start, as the openers in the form of Vijay and Hashim Amla could only manage 17 runs, before the opening wicket fell in the form of Vijay for mere 16 to Sreenath Aravind, who bowled him up in the second over. With 26 runs add to the total, it was Wriddhiman Saha, who fell for 24 to Yuzvendra Chahal, after falling trap to a leg-before call in the fourth over.

At the score of 53, Hashim Amla fell for mere nine to Aravind, after being caught by Chris Jordan in the fifth over. With just a run added to the total, it was David Miller, who fell for just three to Shane Watson, after being caught by AB de Villiers in the sixth over. Nevertheless,  it was followed by a 23-run stand between Gurkeerat Sing and Akshar Patel, before Akshar fell for mere 13 to Watson, after being caught by Kohli in the eighth over. There were hardly any partnerships building, as at the score of 79, it was Farhan Behardien, who fell for an unfortunate dick to Yuzvendra Chahal, after being caught by de Villiers in the ninth over, followed by Kyle Abbot, who too fell for a duck off the same man in a similar fashion at the same over, just a run later. As the score ticked 96, it was Gurkeerat’s turn to depart, who fell for just 18 to Chahal, after being cauight by Gayle in the 11th over.

The final wicket to fall was in the from of Mohit Sharma, who fell for 14, following an unfortunate run out in the 13th over, with just nine runs added to the total. The pair of KC Cariappa and Sandeep Sharma put up 15 runs before rain interrupted the play again in the 14th over, as the umpires decod3d to leave the field, and RCB were declared the winners by 82 runs.
