Opener Virender Sehwag on Tuesday completed his 8,000 runs in Test cricket during India s first innings against Australia in the first Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Sehwag achieved the feat in his 93rd Test match for India. Before this innings, he had scored 7,980 runs in 92 Tests at an average of 52.15 with 22 centuries and 30 half-centuries.

Sehwag thus became the only fifth Indian batsman to cross the 8,000-run mark in Test cricket.

The right-handed batsman had scored 83 runs for ICC XI during a match in 2005.
