Virender Sehwag has hammered a blazing 63-ball 134 for his team Gemini Arabians against the Sagittarius Strikers in the MCL 2016. Sehwag  found his zone today and almost every ball he touched headed towards the boundary ropes. He was unperturbed by the pace of Shane Bond or by the wily spin of Daniel Vettori. He was slow in the initial couple of overs but rolled back the years in the overs that followed. His knock has put Gemini Arabians in a very dominating position. He was involved in fantastic partnerships with Jacques Rudolph and later Kumar Sangakkara.

He put his team in a very dominating performance. He got to his century of 47 deliveries before pushing the throttle a little more for a last burst. In the next 16 balls he scored 34 runs. He was finally dismissed by Yasir Arafat in the penultimate over. By this point Sehwag’s team had gone well past the 200-run mark.

Sehwag’s innings was full of the typical shots that characterised his career for long. He played shots with languid elegance with a hint of power to go with. At this stage, the Gemini Arabians look well poised for a victory but the Sagittarius Strikers have the fire power to put up a strong fight. It should be an interesting chase. Sehwag’s innings was very pleasing to the eye. It certainly brought back memories of the yesteryears.
