Smith said, “The boys played some good cricket tonight and David Warner was just unbelievable. He played one of the best innings that anyone will ever see. He was at it from ball one and played some brilliant shots.”
Â
He added, “I was just told to go and play my way. Davy (David Warner) and me got a good partnership and got the team in a good position. He was able to hit a few sixes in the end to get us to 200. The pitch was actually a lot better tonight and the ball came on well, which made it easier for batting.”
Â
Smith said beating the defending champions at their homeground will bost NSW Bluesâ confidence, “It is a big boost. We’re quietly confident going forward, the more we’ve played the better we’ve got. We don’t know if we’ll be playing the semis in Bangalore or here in Chennai. If we’re playing here, we know the track and the conditions well. Hopefully, we’ll keep playing the brand of cricket we want to play.”
Â
“The quicks have been doing a great job. I bowled three overs in the first game but the ball is not coming out as well as I’d like it to at the moment. I have a couple of days off now in which I will have a good bowl in the nets and probably get a crack in the next game,” he added.
Â
Talking about his bowling skills, Smith said, “It is a big challenge being a spinner in T20 cricket – a challenge I like to face. I’m learning a lot as a bowler in each game that I play and gaining more experience with every game.”
Â
“I work equally hard on both. I think my batting has probably got my bowling covered at the moment but hopefully, I can start bowling well again too,” he added.
