Karachi: Wasim Akram had escaped unhurt on August 5 when unidentified gunmen shot at his car here in Karachi. Police have started to probe the firing on his car. The gunmen fired at Akram’s car on Karsaz Road near the stadium, but he escaped unhurt. The identity of the gunman is still unknown but Akram immediately called the police helpline and registered a complaint. To this Akram had said that “I have shared all details with the police and I am confident they will apprehend the culprit. Police have now started investigation into the firing on former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram’s car, a media report said. Police recorded statements of witnesses, got custody of CCTV footage and sent casings of spent bullets to forensic laboratory on Thursday, Dawn on Friday quoted officials as saying. A gunman said to be aged around 50 years had fired shots at Akram’s car on Karsaz road on Wednesday after a road accident, which followed heated exchange of words.
