During the Women’s World Cup match between India and Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, play was interrupted due to a bug problem on the field. Several players were seen struggling as insects bothered both batters and fielders throughout India’s innings.

After the 34th over, the umpires decided to pause the game, and players from both teams left the field while the ground staff sprayed bug repellent across the stadium. The delay lasted around 15 minutes, but no overs were lost, and the match resumed once the issue was resolved.

Before the much-awaited India vs Pakistan Women’s World Cup match, a controversy broke out during the toss when captains Harmanpreet Kaur and Fatima Sana chose not to shake hands. Continuing the no-handshake trend seen during the Asia Cup, both skippers avoided the usual pre-match gesture, highlighting the ongoing tension between the two teams.

“We’re going to bowl first, looks like there could be some moisture on the wicket. One change for us – our confidence is great, hopefully we’ll play better today. Anything under 250 could be a good chase,” Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana said during the time of the toss.

“We played a good series here before the World Cup. We’re thinking positively and are looking to do well. One unfortunate change – Amanjot isn’t playing (she’s ill), Renuka Singh Thakur replaces her well. We’ve gelled well as a team and are looking forward to today’s contest,” Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said.
