WATCH: Deepak Chahar attempts to sledge MS Dhoni, Thala’s reply leaves him stumped

The camaraderie between MS Dhoni and Deepak Chahar goes a long way back. The two might play from different franchises in the Indian Premier League(IPL), but the bond that Chahar shares with Dhoni is very special as the latter helped the former in becoming a prominent seam bowler.

Chahar made a name for himself in the IPL under Dhoni’s guidance in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). His impressive bowling performances in the IPL also saw him earn his maiden India cap.

With Chahar now featuring for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Dhoni still playing for CSK, epic banter between the duo took place when both the teams clash against each other on Sunday at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

As Dhoni walked onto the pitch with CSK on the verge of victory, Chahar jokingly gestured to the 43-year-old that he will be fielding at short silly point.

Following the conclusion of the match, Dhoni jokingly hit Chahar with his bat. This hilarious moment took place during handshakes between both the teams.

CSK ‘s victory over MI meant that the latter have now lost their opening IPL match for the 13th consecutive time. The last time MI won their opening IPL match was back in the 2012 season.

With the win, CSK maintained their great record against MI. Since the second leg of IPL 2021, the Chennai-based franchise has won six out of their 7 matches against their arch-rivals.
