Rohit Sharma played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after seven years. On Wednesday, December 24, Rohit played for Mumbai against Sikkim at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, where he entertained the fans immensely. The former Indian captain played a brilliant century, playing a crucial role in his team’s victory.
Rohit scored 155 runs off just 94 balls, including 18 fours and nine sixes. Rohit’s innings helped Mumbai secure an 8-wicket victory. Earlier in the match, something happened during Mumbai’s fielding that is now going viral. During Sikkim’s batting, Rohit was fielding near the boundary. Fans were chanting Rohit’s name. There were around 20,000 spectators in the stadium, and the fans’ enthusiasm for Rohit was palpable in the packed stadium. Rohit also scored the fastest century of his List A career in this match.
Amidst this excitement, a fan asked Rohit, “Vada paav khaoge?” (Will you eat Vada Pav?) Rohit responded with a smile and a hand gesture, declining the offer. This moment was captured on camera and quickly went viral on social media. Fans are now reacting to this video in various ways.
Rohit recently scored half-centuries in two of the three matches in the ODI series against South Africa. He will next be seen playing in the three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand, starting on January 11. Regarding the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mumbai’s next match is against Uttarakhand, which will also be played in Jaipur.
In the match against Sikkim, Mumbai restricted Sikkim to a score of 236 for 7 wickets. Rohit Sharma then took full advantage of Sikkim’s inexperienced bowling attack, and Mumbai ultimately won the match in 30.3 overs, losing only 2 wickets.
