Pandya drops easy catch in clash against Bangladesh
India star all-rounder Hardik Pandya dropped an easy catch in the ongoing Champions Trophy encounter against Bangladesh to provide batter Towhid Hridoy with a huge lifeline.
This came a few overs after skipper Rohit Sharma dropped a sitter to deny Axar Patel of becoming the first-ever Indian to take a hat-trick in the ICC Champions Trophy.
Pandya’s dropped catch occurred in the 20th over when Hridoy hit a powerful shot to spinner Kuldeep Yadav towards mid-on. Pandya, who was stationed in the perfect position to pick up the catch, ended up dropping it to add to India’s misery.
Meanwhile, India enjoyed a fantastic start to their tournament as their bowlers picked up 2 wickets in the first two overs of the match itself. Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana ended up picking a wicket each before the former picked up another scalp in the form of Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Then, spinner Axar Patel picked up 2 wickets in as many deliveries to leave Bangladesh reeling on 35/5 after 8.3 overs. The Tigers were in a desperate need of a big partnership and it was provided to them by the duo of Hridoy and Jaker Ali, who helped their side cross the 100-run mark without losing any more wickets.
