Rajasthan Royals playoff qualification hopes ended on Friday after they faced a massive 100-run defeat against Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. RR became the second team to get eliminated after Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League.

Fans witnessed an exciting match in Jaipur, but they were left disappointed as the crowd favourite, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, was dismissed for a 2-ball duck.

The match had a light-hearted moment in the second innings that left everyone in splits. In the ninth over, Dhruv Jurel went inside out and smashed a six off Karan Sharma’s delivery. What followed was hilarious, as the ball got lost near the photographers, prompting three MI players, including Suryakumar Yadav, to start searching for it.

However, they couldn’t locate the ball, and SKY was so engrossed in the search that he didn’t realize the bowler had already picked up a second ball.

Chasing the massive target of 218 runs, RR’s batting collapsed for 117 in 16.1 overs, as Karan Sharma and Trent Boult took three wickets respectively. However, an impressive knock of Ryan Rickelton’s (61) and Rohit Sharma’s (53) helped MI reach 217/2 in their 20 overs.

“Especially the way they batted. Absolutely clinical with the ball. We could have got maybe 15 runs more. We kind of missed out. (talk with SKY) What we were trying to speak to each other was to play percentage shots and cricket shots.” MI skipper Hardik Pandya said after the match

“Value of shots are there if you hit the gaps, Ro and Ryan batted the same way, Ryan kept the intent and he targeted those boundaries and it was fantastic. It is never about people getting chances, it is about what is required of that situation.” Hardik added.
