India Women put up all-round performance to defeat hosts South Africa and win the fifth T20I. While Mithali Raj (62) and Jemimah Rodrigues (44) excelled with the bat, Rumeli Dhar, Shikha Pandey and Rajeshwari Gayakwad picked up 3 wickets each to end South Africa’s innings early and hand the team victory. However, batting was not the only way Jemimah contributed to the victory. She pulled off a stunning catch to get rid of Marizanne Kapp, who was in a destructive form, to take India closer to the win. Marizanne, who had already hit a couple of sixes in her innings, was sure she was hitting the third one while Jemimah came running and positioned herself underneath the ball at midwicket boundary, held on to the ball from above the ropes and balanced herself, preventing her feet to touch the rope and sent the batter back. Here is a video of the catch:
India had put up a 167-run target for South Africa to square the series and pulled off brilliant bowling performance that triggered a batting collapse for the hosts. The visitors thus won the T20I series 3-1 after winning the ODIs 2-1.
