In a shocking video that took social media by storm on Tuesday, the incident occurred at the Arun Jaitley Stadium after the end of a thrilling clash between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders.
DC star spinner Kuldeep Yadav was seen slapping KKR batter Rinku Singh on live TV. KKR secured a convincing 14-run victory over DC, handing them their second consecutive defeat at home.
In the video, which has gone viral on social media, Rinku, Kuldeep, and a few other players were seen sharing a good laugh together when, suddenly, the leg-spinner slapped Rinku jokingly. However, it did not go down well, as Rinku looked visibly embarrassed and shocked. Later, Kuldeep slapped him again, which left Rinku angry
Fans were upset with Kuldeep’s behaviour and he began facing backlash online, with many even urging the BCCI to “ban” him. The following day, Delhi Capitals posted a video of the two cricketers posing for a picture, captioned “Only Pyaar” on their social media handle, clarifying that everything is normal between Kuldeep Yadav and Rinku Singh.
Coming to the match, DC skipper invited KKR to bat first in their home ground. KKR put a massive total of 204 rus with the help of some crucial knocks by Sunil Narine (29), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44) and Rinku Singh (36).
While chasing the target of 205 Delhi Capitals started off on a strong note, before Narine turn the game in the 14th over dismissing skipper Axar Patel and the in-form Tristan Stubbs, helping KKR to secure a convincing victory. DC were restricted at 190 in their 20 overs, they fell 14 run short against Kolkata.
