MS Dhoni stumps Phil Salt
43-year-old MS Dhoni once again showcased why he is one of the greatest wicketkeepers in the history of the game. During the Chennai Super Kings’ clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Friday, Dhoni’s exceptional glovework saw Phil Salt’s blazing knock of 32 runs from 16 deliveries come to an end.
Salt had given RCB a fantastic start to the powerplay by scoring 5 boundaries and a six which saw him race to 32. However, his stay at the crease came to an abrupt end thanks to an incredibly fast stumping from Dhoni.
Spinner Noor Ahmad’s delivery proved to get the better of Salt, who ended up missing it completely. As he tried to regain his balance, Dhoni whipped off the stumps in a flash, bringing an end to the England batter’s flashy innings.
The decision was sent upstairs and replays confirmed that Salt’s foot was in the air when Dhoni clipped the bails off. The video of Dhoni’s stumping went viral on social media in no time.
This comes just days after another lightning-fast stumping from Dhoni saw Suryakumar Yadav’s innings come to an end during CSK’s clash against the Mumbai Indians.
That moment also went viral on social media and following some calculations, it was declared that Dhoni just took 0.12 seconds to clip the bails off in order to dismiss Suryakumar, making it one of the fastest stumpings in the history of the game.
