Watch rare video of Wasim Akram giving a special gift to Sachin Tendulkar

On the field, Indian and Pakistani cricketers are like true enemies and there are numerous encounters when things have gone bad to worse during an India-Pakistan match. But off the field, they have always shared a very friendly relation.

It’s the birthday of former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram who is regarded as one of the best swing bowlers in the world and has been given the tag of ‘Sultan of Swing’. He turns 50 today and on this special day, we bring to you a rare video of him giving a special gift to India’s greatest batsman Sachin Tendulkar. The venue was Chennai where the first Test of the series had to be played in 1999. Before the game, Tendulkar was honoured with Padma Shri by Indian government. Since both the sides were practicing at the same venue, Akram took the opportunity to congratulate Tendulkar on receiving the honour and also present him an award. Further they talked about their meeting after the match along with their respective wives.

This was one of the most famous Tests in the history of cricket and probably the most exciting game between India and Pakistan as the visiting side won it by 12 runs in quite a dramatic way. Tendulkar had scored a century in that match which is widely remembered for Chennai crowd’s standing ovation for Pakistan after they did a lap of honour.
