WATCH: Rishabh Pant argues with LSG mentor Zaheer Khan in viral video

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant was seen arguing with mentor Zaheer Khan on the bench during his side’s clash against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday. To everyone’s surprise, Pant stepped out to bat at the number 7 spot and ended up getting cleaned up by Mukesh Kumar for a duck on the final delivery of the LSG innings.

Pant’s decision to demote himself was heavily criticized by fans and experts alike as LSG slumped to a thumping 8-wicket defeat to DC at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

During LSG’s innings, a camera spotted Pant, who was padded up to bat, having an intense chat with Zaheer. The incident took place in the penultimate over of LSG’s innings. A video of the chat soon went viral on social media.

Following the loss, Pant admitted his team was well short of the par score.

“We knew we were 20 runs short. In Lucknow, the toss plays a big part. Whoever is bowling first, they get a lot of help from the wicket. We just had to stay back, we just couldn’t get it away,” Pant said.

Pant, who became the most expensive player to ever be sold at the IPL auction last year after going to LSG for INR 27 crore, has only been able to score 106 runs in eight innings. He will desperately be looking to improve his form in the upcoming matches.
