Pant hits century on Day 2 vs England
India vice-captain Rishabh Pant pulled off his trademark celebration after reaching his seventh Test century against England on Day 2 of the first Test in Leeds on Saturday. This wasn’t the first time he showcased the acrobatic move the Lucknow Super Giants skipper had previously celebrated the same way after scoring a century against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL earlier this year.
Pant reached his century in style with a one-handed six. He bought up his century in 146 deliveries which included 10 boundaries and 4 sixes. He hammered his third Test century on English soil with fearless strokeplay, while Shubman Gill provided stability at the other end. The pair put together a 200-run stand, making it a commanding session for Team India.
With this milestone, he surpassed former India captain MS Dhoni in the list of most Test centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper. While Dhoni had six, Pant has now reached his seventh. Pant has now scored three Test hundreds in England the previous two coming in 2018 and 2022.
