Team India s Test captain Virat Kohli, who has been the cynosure of all eyes for past some time, turned 28 on Saturday. The dashing cricketer, who was at his home in Delhi, had to leave for Rajkot to join his Team India colleagues ahead of the first Test to be played at Rajkot from November 9. However, Kohli made it a point that he left home only after celebrating his birthday with friends and relatives. A video of the same was released through his official Facebook page earlier in the day, which gave a glimpse of the celebration at Kohli household.

The Indian run-machine has been in terrific form this year, scoring runs at will especially in the shorter formats. He went past the score in excess of 50 seven out of eight times in Australia at the beginning of this year. Later, he was prolific in the ICC World T20 2016 as well as the ninth season of Indian Premier League (IPL), where he broke new barriers. Later, he excelled in Tests too, hitting both the double hundreds of his career. He is now only 139 runs behind England s Joe Root in terms of most runs scored across formats in 2016.

The Delhi dasher cut a cake symbolising his India limited-overs blue jersey with Kohli written on it including the number 18 ; his jersey number. He will now lead Team India in the five match Test series against England after a successful whitewash of New Zealand in Tests.
