India is one of the biggest powerhouses in world cricket today. Whenever an ICC or major continental tournament takes place, the Indian team is almost always seen as one of the favourites to win. However, it wasn’t always this way — India’s journey to becoming a dominant force in cricket was full of challenges and struggles.
Now, with years of progress and countless match-winners, India consistently ranks among the top three teams in every major competition. Over time, many legendary players have contributed to this success, making it difficult to choose just one as the greatest of all time. When former cricketer Yograj Singh was asked to name the best Indian cricketer ever, his answer turned out to be quite interesting.
“Who is the best cricketer India has ever produced?” Yograj Singh was asked.
“If you talk about all-rounders, then Kapil Dev. If you talk about batsmen, then you have Yuvraj Singh, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and Sourav Ganguly – all these guys – but I think Yuvi (Yuvraj) is topping everybody in my book,” Yograj Singh said.
“He would have played about 200 Test matches and maybe scored 200 centuries, which I thought… and he was capable of,” he added.
