Women’s Big Bash League 2017-18 started today in Sydney. In the first match between Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder, the later posted a big total of 200 after they were put to bat. Harmanpreet Kaur, playing for the Thunders, failed to make a mark in the first game: she was run out for 8 runs.

Melbourne Renegades started well in the second innings. They were 116 for 1 in the 11th over. Harmanpreet bowled a solitary over for Thunders, leaking 16 runs. Harmanpreet then took a brilliant catch to dismiss the Renegades captain Amy Satterthwaite for 5. In the end, Sydney Thunders won by 11 runs.
