As previously announced, India Champions have opted out of the World Championship of Legends semifinal against Pakistan, scheduled for Thursday. They have reaffirmed their earlier decision to avoid competitive matches against their long-time rivals.

On Tuesday, India Champions secured a spot in the semifinals of the ongoing World Championship of Legends by defeating West Indies Champions in just 13.2 overs.

Indian players have refused to play against Pakistan in the WCL semifinal scheduled for Thursday,” sources told IANS on Wednesday.

In response to strong objections from Indian players and a key sponsor, the league stage match between India and Pakistan was cancelled earlier. As a result, former Indian cricketers, such as Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan, declared they would not participate in the match in public statements.

According to the company’s long-standing policy, EaseMyTrip will not be associated with any match involving Pakistan, including the India-Pakistan semifinal on Wednesday.

We applaud Team India @India_Champions for their outstanding performance in the World Championship of Legends, you’ve made the nation proud. However, the upcoming semi-final against Pakistan is not just another game, Terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand. @EaseMyTrip, we stand with India. We cannot support any event that attempts to normalise relations with a country that promotes terrorism. The people of India have spoken and we hear them. EaseMyTrip will not be associated with the India vs Pakistan match in WCL. Some things are bigger than sport. Nation first business later, Always,” Nishant Pitti, co-founder of the travel-tech company said in a statement on Wednesday.

In the tournament, the India Champions have suffered heavy losses to South Africa Champions (via the DRS method), Australia Champions (by four wickets) and England Champions (by 23 runs), followed by consecutive losses to Australia Champions. Their only point came from the abandoned match against Pakistan before the win against West Indies.
