West Indies lost four wickets within just 75 runs in persuit of their first innings against Australia on Day 2 of the first Test at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Friday. Australia, who posted a mammoth total of 583 for the loss of four wickets, declared their innings right before the post-lunch session. West Indies were off to a steady start with 17 runs coming off in the opening stand before Kraig Brathwaite fell for a mere couple to Josh Hazle wood, who trapped him leg-before. However, it was followed by a healthy 41-run stand between opener Rejendra Chandrika and Darren Bravo, as West Indies eventually brought up their 50 runs. However, it was at thew score of 58, when Chandrika fell for 25 to Nathan Lyon. With just 20 added to the total, it was veteran Marlon Samuels fell for mere 9 at the score of 78, after Lyon caught him brilliantly. He was soon followed by Jermaine Blackwood five balls later for a duck, after delivering an easy catch to Joe Burns off Lyon again. It was the pair of Bravo and Ramdin unbeaten at the tea break, with Bravo playin a sensible knock and remaining unbeaten on 32. Earlier, Australia started the Day 2 on 438 for 3 and go into lunch on 583 for 4. Adam Voges and Shaun Marsh make batting look superbly easy on a pitch which does have a bit of help for the fast bowlers. West Indies would have wanted a better sort of performance from their bowlers after the abysmal time on Day 1. Voges have continued to have his merry ways notching up his first ever double hundred in Test cricket.
