West Indies prepare themselves for the final battle as they face Afghanistan in the third One-Day International (ODI) of the ongoing series. To be played on Thursday at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, the match can create history for the mighty visitors as this can be their first series win in West Indies. Afghanistan won the first ODI while West Indies came back strong with the second and the third ODI can be expected to be one tough challenge for both the sides, which makes it an interesting contest. Live Cricket Score: Afghanistan vs West Indies, 3rd ODI at Gros Islet

Though Afghanistan won the first ODI by a 63-run margin, their batting exposed their flaws. The 212 for 6 that they had posted was not really a team effort but a result of heroics from Javed Ahmadi and Gulbadin Naib. Ahmadi failed to replicate it in the following match while Naib impressed, fighting a lone battle for his side. Inconsistency and lack of experience cost Afghanistan batsmen their wickets on a pitch that supports pacers early on. However, they have had quite a long time to acclimatise and might perform better in the final match.

Amidst the changing conditions, Rashid Khan continues to impress one and all. After a 7-for in the first ODI that actually sealed the deal for his side, he picked up 3 wickets in the following match, despite being handed the ball late. A lot will depend on how he bowls in the match.

As for West Indies, who are among the Test-playing nations, it can be said that they have not been up to the mark in the ODI series. Playing at home conditions against a team relatively much inexperienced, one must have expected them to dominate throughout the tournament. However, the pacers have been consistent and it is the batting where West Indies need team effort.

Shai Hope is one name with the bat who has been scoring consistently and will have to majorly contribute for the side to win the defining ODI.
