Play is set to get underway at 1.30pm local time (1730 GMT) on the rain-shortened second day of the first Test between the West Indies and Bangladesh at the Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent on Saturday.

West Indies will resume their first innings at 264 for three with opening batsman Kraigg Brathwaite on 123 and Shivnarine Chanderpaul on one. Torrential overnight and continuous morning rain had threatened to wash out the entire second day.

But prospects of play improved with rain stopping and playing conditions improving slowly around midday. After umpires Marais Erasmus and Richard Illingworth made a second inspection of the field the decision was made to continue. Earlier there had been puddles of water on the outfield as the rain showed no sign of a abating.
