Earlier, West Indies Women have reached 148 for 4 in their 20 Overs against Bangladesh Women in Match 8 of the ICC Women’s World T20 2016 at Chennai. Openers Hayley Matthews and Stefanie Taylor got the team off to a good start. They set a good platform for the rest of the team from where they can go on and get a big score on the board. But Hayley’s innings was cut short by Nahida Akter, who dismissed her for 41. Nahida did not stop just there, she went on to dismiss Stefanie Taylor for 40 and also Britney Cooper for nine. That brought Deandra Dottin and Stacey-Ann King to the crease.

Deandra went after the bowling and  it paid off as West Indies Women were getting some quick runs in the death. She was well supported by Stacey-Ann King, who was willing to give Deandra as much strike as possible. But Deandra was dismissed for a 11-ball 24, but West Indies had gone past the 130-run mark by then. Rumana Ahmed managed to get the crucial wicket. Stacey and new batter Shemaine Campbelle ensured that West Indies Women reach an excellent score.

Nahida was easily the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh Women, finishing with 3 for 27 in his four overs. Rumana also chipped in with a wicket. The other bowlers kept it tight more or less. Jahanara Alam was the most expensive bowler, finishing with none for 34 in her quota of four overs.

Earlier, West Indies Women had won the toss and elected to bat first. Bangladesh Women will hope  to get over the line as they have already lost both their matches in the tournament.
