In the first match of IPL 10, reigning champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on the runners up of IPL 9, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad. Earlier, talking about the opening ceremonies, IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla had mentioned that the ceremonies will be based on the cultural heritage of each of the venues, their journey so far in IPL. There will also be stunning performances by Bollywood stars, who will add the glamour and glitz quotient. The stars to perform at the IPL 2017 venues are as follows – Amy Jackson in Hyderabad, Riteish Deshmukh in Pune, Tiger Shroff in Gujarat, Shraddha Kapoor and Monali Thakur in Kolkata and Parineeti Chopra in Delhi. Performers for Indore, Bangalore and Mumbai are yet to be decided.
While talking about the unique idea of eight IPL opening ceremonies, Shukla admitted that it was not his brainchild but a decision taken unanimously. The idea will also give fans the chance to watch the opening ceremony live at a larger scale, covering a bigger portion of the vast country.
The previous season of the IPL registered record viewership. India skipper Virat Kohli was in his prime form, scoring four centuries. He also became the first player to touch the 4,000-run mark in IPL. However, it was David Warner to took away the cake, leading SRH to win the title. The team put in all-round performance to beat a strong RCB in the final to claim their maiden trophy. IPL 10 will be important for each individual as well as the nations they represent as this will be a good practice for world-class T20 cricket before the gala event of Champions Trophy, which will take place later this year.
