Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman will not be a part of IPL 2026. Following the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, the BCCI has instructed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release Mustafizur Rahman. KKR had bought Mustafizur Rahman for â¹9.20 crore in the IPL 2026 auction. However, after his release, the question arises whether he will be paid his full match fee.
According to IPL rules, even if a franchise wants to release a player before or during the season for any reason, they are still obligated to pay the full salary as per the contract. The rules clearly state that if a team releases a player before the completion of the contract period, paying the full salary is mandatory. This is the first time in IPL history that a team has been instructed to release a player after buying him in the auction.
According to the rules, once a player is bought in the IPL auction, he becomes part of that team, and the contract is binding for the season. The player receives full payment even if he is sitting on the bench when available; there are separate rules for injury or unavailability, but in case of release, the franchise is responsible.
BCCI asks KKR to release Mustafizur Rahman
