The duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay as usual opened inning for India. The visitors lost Vijay early in the day and it was Shannon Gabriel who made the breakthrough for the West Indies. Vijay was seen struggling from the first ball he had faced in the match. And eventually a short delivery trapped him when he edged a simple catch to Kraigg Brathwaite at second slip. That left India at 23 for 1. That wicket saw Cheteshwar Pujara walked in at No. 3, joining Dhawan at the middle.
