Stefanie Taylor, West Indies skipper has been signed up by Sydney Thunder to play in the first season of Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2015-16. The T20I tournament kicks off today with its first match between Heat Women and Melbourne Stars Women in Melbourne at 10 am local time (4.30 am IST).  Taylor is considered one of the finest batters in contemporary women’s cricket and with her signing up for Sydney Thunder will certainly add value to their side. She is equally adept at bowling good off spinners. The Thunders heretofore have great cricketers in their team viz. Erin Osbourne, Rachel Haynes, Alex Blackwell and Rene Farrell.

In a conversation with Trinidad Express she said “I know I’m going to be a huge asset to the team. The team is very strong, I am here to share my experience and hopefully have some good games. I know what I can do and I just hope that I have a good time. I’m a mixture of everything, I can be aggressive but I’m more of a rotator. Whatever is needed at the time, I can produce.” Taylor has represented West Indies in 65 T20Is piling 1,874 runs at an average of 36.03 with 16 fifties and a highest score of 90. She also has 56 scalps to her name at an impressive economy rate of 5.32. In 88 ODIs, she has accumulated 3,376 runs at an impressive average of 45.62 with five centuries and 22 fifties. She has also picked 108 wickets in 50-overs cricket.
