Yashasvi to play Ranji after getting removed from Champions Trophy
India’s star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is all set to mark his return to domestic cricket, and is going to feature for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 semifinal clash. Jaiswal is going to appear in the domestic cricket as he did not get picked in India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was initially named in India’s squad for 2025 edition of Champions Trophy, but was later removed from the final squad. He has not been named as a non-travelling reserve, which means he will only visit Dubai if necessary. Meanwhile, the young opener will represent Mumbai team in their Ranji Trophy 2024-25 semifinal match against Vidarbha, set to begin February 17 in Nagpur.
According to a report, Mumbai chief selector Sanjay Patil revealed that Mumbai will face Vidarbha with the same squad which was against Haryana in quarterfinal match, with a single change being addition of Yashasvi Jaiswal.
“The inclusion of Yashasvi for this crucial game will be beneficial and will boost the Mumbai team’s morale,” Sanjay Patil said.
The single appearance that Jaiswal made in Ranji Trophy was with scored of 4 and 26 as Mumbai lost to Jammu & Kashmir by five wickets. However, the explosive opening batter will make sure to give out a strong performance and strengthen Mumbai’s batting lineup.
