Yasir Shah elected member of Dispute Resolution Council in Swabi

Yasir Shah has won laurels for his country by creating records in his brief career in International cricket. Now, the leg-spinner has started playing an important role in improving law and order and disputes in his native district of Swabi as well. He has been elected as member of the Dispute Resolution Centre (DRC) in his hometown. The 29-year-old has promised to give time to settle disputes between rivals and ensure peace. Jawed Iqbal, District Police Officer (DPO) told The News, “When he met me for the first time, he was very enthusiastic about playing his role in improving things in Swabi. We invited him to become a member of our DRC and he gave his consent. The DPO mentioned that local representatives were urged to have a meeting with Shah on the first day he joined DRC. This gesture by the cricketer has been appreciated by many locals as this will help to boost the image of the bodies working to settle disputes across the province. Shah had impressed selectors enough with his form to be selected in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 squad, which was his first appearance in World Cup, despite playing just one One-Day International (ODI) in 2011 against Zimbabwe. He managed to take 2 for 51 during the match and later returned for International matches in 2014. Australia’s former spinner Shane Warne went on to praise Pakistan’s Shah as the ‘the best spinner in the world.’
