Arjun Tendulkar’s entry into the IPL was relatively low-key, considering his famous lineage. He picked up only 3 wickets in four games for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023, somewhat tampering the high expectations. Arjun only played 1 match in the 2024 IPL season and wasn’t able to pick up any wicket.

The son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was trained by former India star Yograj Singh, following which he scored an impressive century in the Ranji Trophy.

During an interview with former Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings player Taruwar Kohli, Yograj stated that Arjun should focus more on batting.

“If Arjun Tendulkar comes to me now, I will make him the world’s greatest batter in six months. No one knows the potential he has with the bat. He was with me for 12 days, he scored a century in his Ranji Trophy debut. Did anybody realize?” Yograj said on Taruwar’s YouTube channel.

“Goa’s team was here. Sachin and Yuvraj told me to take Arjun Tendulkar under my wings. He stayed here with me for 10-12 days. I thought, ‘he is such a great batter, kaha isko bowling mein laga rakkha hai?’ Why are you wasting him in bowling?’ As a batting all-rounder, he will be fine,” Yograj added.

Arjun has so far played 5 matches for the Mumbai Indians, picking up only three wickets. The all-rounder was purchased by the Mumbai-based franchise at his base price of INR 30 lakh at the mega auction last year.
