Yusuf Pathan lands in India without luggage; Kenya airlines says it wasn’t on the flight
Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan has been running out of the Indian team for while now. A limited-overs specialist, Pathan senior last played for India in March 2012. Since then, he has been representing Baroda in domestic cricket and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with mixed success. He recently made news when he returned from Kenya after playing a competitive tournament in Nairobi, only to find his luggage missing. When he enquired about the same, the Kenya airlines informed him that his luggage was not uploaded in Nairobi on his flight to Mumbai in the first place.

The entire matter came to notice after Yusuf tweeted his disappointment on the matter through his official Twitter handle. He informed his followers about the same through two tweets, which read as:
Yusuf apparently had travelled to Nairobi to represent the Stray Lions Cricket Club in a local 50-over tournament after getting due clearance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It is notable here that the BCCI does allow its players to play in foreign tournaments only if they are either 50-over games or played for more than a day. The prohibition is only on Indian players playing in foreign Twenty20 (T20) leagues.

Since there were no immediate domestic assignments and Pathan was not being considered for any of Duleep Trophy teams or the ones that travelled Down Under, he decided to ply his trade in Kenya. He had in the past played in Bangladesh’s premier 50-over club tournament as well. These tournaments usually help players remain match-fit. When Yusuf flew back home on Monday after completing his assignment, he was surprised not to find his luggage in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, the cricketer celebrated the festival of Eid along with his younger brother Irfan and family on Tuesday. The Pathan brothers tweeted wishes to their fans on this auspicious occasion and also gleefully received wishes from their fans. Irfan wrote from his official Twitter handle:
His former team-mate and Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa came up with a funny tweet wishing the two brothers on Eid. He wished though his tweet he was with them on this festival as he would have got nice food to eat. He wrote:
Irfan replied Uthappa in the similar fashion by writing:
We wish Yusuf and Irfan a Happy Eid on this occasion and hope that Yusuf’s luggage reaches him safely on time.
