Yuvraj Singh: My cricket future is uncertain

Southpaw Yuvraj Singh who recently returned from Boston, USA after undergoing chemotherapy for a rare germ cell cancer between his lungs said his cricket future is uncertain.

Southpaw Yuvraj Singh who recently returned from Boston, USA after undergoing chemotherapy for a rare germ cell cancer between his lungs said his cricket future is uncertain.

“At the moment I am very happy with the way I am living my life. I am being very positive as I always have been.
Â
I am just happy to be back and in some months I hope to be back on the field.”

Explaining the reason for holding a press conference, Yuvraj said, “I am doing this so that I get some privacy from the media. So that I can have my own private life and get better.”

Yuvraj mentioned he was not surprised by former Indian skipper Anil Kumbleâs visit. He was rather very pleased to meet him.

Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar had met Yuvraj in London. “I was very delighted and happy to see him (Tendulkar),” Yuvraj was quoted as saying by Firstpost.Sports.

Yuvraj also said that he wished to be a part of the team when Sachin got his 100th hundred.

Yuvraj took inspiration from the life of Lance Armstrong who fought under similar conditions.

“His achievements in life are much greater because of the way he came back. For me to come back to a cricket field will be a great achievement for me,” said Yuvraj. He added that,” Cancer is out of my system but the scar remains.”

Talking about whether his battle with cancer will change his attitude towards life and will change his fun loving nature, he says “I was always fun loving and really motivated. I am not going to change.”

He acknowledges that he will have to work harder to get back.

He thanked his well-wishers and hoped that his life would inspire a lot of people who are battling with cancer.

Till the end of April I hope to rest and see some games in May,” he says . Yuvraj expressed that he might go for a few games in the IPL to support his former teammates and is waiting to put on the Pune team jersey.
