All-rounder Yuvraj Singh on Sunday said India performs well under pressure and the build up for the ICC World T20 is perfect for the team to get in the groove.

Yuvraj said, “As a team we perform well under pressure. Sri Lanka is a place that we are used to playing in and we are used to the conditions there.”

“I am sure that the guys will regroup [and be ready to play] and [also] we have got a couple of practice games [ahead of the tournament]. So it will be a good momentum [builder] for us going in to the World Cup,” he said.

Yuvraj s hopes of making an international comeback were dashed on Saturday when rain washed away the opening Twenty20 tie against New Zealand in Visakhapatnam.

He told the Board of Control for Cricket in India‘s (BCCI) official portal, “I have been practicing really well and it was unfortunate that it rained today [in the first T20I against NZ] but maybe in another game [I will get the opportunity to play] and then going to the World Cup [ICC World T20 in Sri Lanka]. I am really looking forward to it.”

Yuvraj denied he is under any kind of pressure on his much-awarided comeback.

“I don t think there is any kind of pressure on me because I am really happy that I am getting another chance to play. I am just going to go and express myself,” he said.

“The team will be under pressure to play well to win. I think we have done well in those kinds of situations before. But for me I don t feel any pressure at the moment. When I start performing, the pressure will be back on me; but at the moment I am just happy that I am going to step on the field,” he added.

India captain MS Dhoni had earlier said that the team was missing Yuvraj, who won his fight against a rare germ cell cancer.

Yuvraj said, “I think MS has been missing my bowling more than my batting [laughs]. I fit in the role of a fifth bowler for the team. So, I think that is my responsibility because I did well with the ball in the World Cup. So hopefully, I can deliver the same way in the T20 World Cup as well.”

Yuvraj thinks India have got a well-balanced side to thrive in the T20 World Cup later this month.

“As an all-rounder it is good that me and Irfan [Pathan], both are back; Bhajji [Harbhajan Singh] is back. [So, there are] guys who can bat and bowl. So, there will be good depth for the team. So, the balance of the team is really good at the moment,” he said.
