Yuzvendra Chahal’s four-fer, Marco Jansen’s three-fer make way for PBKS to secure 16-run victory over KKR

A four-wicket-haul by Yuzvendra Chahal along with three-fer by Marco Jansen saved Punjab Kings (PBKS) from their shaky innings, and led them to a shocking 16-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The entirety of the innings was not impressive by Punjab batting lineup. Opener Priyansh Arya (22 off 12 balls) and Prabhsimran Singh (30 off 15 balls) were the two top performers for the team. Apart from these two players, no one could even manage to score 20 runs during their outing.

The match was going at good pace in the first three overs, but then came wickets of Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer in a single over. Josh Inglis followed up in the very next over., and powerplay ended for Punjab with the dismissal of Prabhsimran Singh as well.

By the time half-innings was complete, the Shreyas Iyer-led side was six players down for just 80 runs on the board, and the momentum kept going down from that point. The 11th over was also a double-dismissal over, and the match was looking like a low scoring one by that point.

The final phase somewhat saw a little bit stability as the team managed to post a total of 109/8 by the time 15 overs ended. However, KKR bowlers struck once again and the final 2 wickets in the very next over, resulting in their innings ending on 111 runs in 15.2 overs.

KKR innings did not see any different start, as their opening pair was dismissed in the first 2 overs. However, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Ajinkya Rahane, who had stepped on as 3rd and 4th player stitched up an impressive partnership, and played in a manner that half their target was completed within the powerplay itself. Their partnership was soon broken, as Ajinkya Rahane got dismissed LBW, and KKR were 4 down by the half-innings mark.

After the 10th over, the match turned in quite a peculiar way, as KKR went from 72/4 to 79/8 by the 13th over. Andre Russell somewhat steadied the inning, but then Vaibhav Arora got dismissed, and KKR was at a nervous position of 95/9 by the 15th over. IN the very next ball i.e. the 15.1st ball, Andre Russell got bowled out, as PBKS won the match by 16 runs.
