Left-arm India pacer Zaheer Khan, who grabbed one wicket is his six-over spell during Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy match against Orissa on the second day, expressed satisfaction on his fitness and said he is regaining confidence.
Zaheer, whose match-fitness will be tested during Mumbai’s Ranji clashes, bowled six overs and took one wicket for 20 runs.
The Indian pace spearhead took field for the first time since he suffered a hamstring injury during the Lord’s Test against England in July.
Zaheer wrote on Twitter, “Getting wkt in first over of course boosted my confidence n got me in good zone mentally.”
Orissa stumbled to 47 for seven in reply to Mumbai’s huge total of 529 for eight declared, wherein Dhawal Kulkarni bagged four wickets.
Zaheer tweeted after the end of play, “Dhawal too looked in good rhythm ,bowled superbly to get 4 wkts on a slow n low track.”
“It’s always good to bowl on a track where u really have to bend ur back to get something out of the wkt …tomo is a important day ..”
Zaheer has been included in the 17-member India squad for the Australia tour, which begins on December 26.
