Zimbabwe Cricket s Board of Directors on Tuesday appointed veteran batsman Hamilton Masakadza as the captain of the national team for all three formats with immediate effect. Peter Joseph Moor was named Masakadza s deputy.

Following resolutions by the Zimbabwe Cricket Board of Directors at its last meeting, we are pleased to make the following announcements. Hamilton Masakadza has been appointed as the Zimbabwe senior men s national cricket team captain for all three formats of the game for the 2019/20 season, read a media release by Zimbabwe Cricket.

Masakadza, who has 5604 runs under his belt in 204 ODIs, last played a one-day international against Bangladesh in October last year. He has led Zimbabwe before whenever the first-choice leader Elton Chigumbura has been absent.

In other developments, Dilip Chouhan has been appointed as the Zimbabwe men s national cricket team s manager. He will be in-charge of the Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe A and Zimbabwe Under-19 national teams, Zimbabwe Cricket said. (ALSO READ: Brendan Taylor first Zimbabwean to score two hundreds in same Test)

Walter Chawaguta, Prosper Utseya and Kenyon Ziehl have been confirmed as substantive members of the Zimbabwe National Selection Panel. Chawaguta remains the convenor of selectors.
