Zimbabwe notched up a thrilling win over Sri Lanka in the ongoing Bangladesh Tri-Series last evening. It was the experience of Sikandar Raza with both bat and ball that came to Zimbabwe’s rescue. Raza top-scored with 81 in his side’s 12-run win which managed to keep Zimbabwe’s hopes alive of a spot in the final.

Speaking after the match, Raza said that it was consistency in the members of the side that helped Zimbabwe win. He said: “I think consistency in selection definitely helped. I think we have gone with the same squad for a lot of series and that is certainly showing up.  When I have a guy next to me in the change room for a longer period of time, it gives you that extra confidence. You can call what the shots the batsman are going to be playing, this is the trust we have among ourselves.”

He further adds, “This team is a band of brothers and we have been playing together for a long time. We back each other regardless of the situation. We back each other to defend 120.”

He also said that Zimbabwe are motivated with ICC World Cup 2019 Qualifiers in due time.

He said: “Secret behind it is the trust, character, faith among ourselves. We are determined to go into the World Cup qualifiers with a strong message we want to send out to all the teams.”
