Zimbabwe reached 30 for one after bowling out Pakistan for 230 in their first innings at tea on Day Three of the second Test match at Harare on Thursday. The hosts have taken a lead of 94 runs.

Resuming after lunch, Pakistan were well poised to take lead in the first innings as they were only 83 runs short of the host’s first innings total of 294 with five wickets in hand.

However, Brian Vitori and Tinashe Panyagara returned to bag the remaining wickets. Vitori finished with career-best figures of five for 60.

Earlier in the day, Zimbabwe picked up two wickets in the morning session as Pakistan set about reducing the first innings deficit.

Continuing from an overnight total of 163 for three, Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq could add only 19 more runs before the latter was sent packing. A full delivery outside the off-stump from Vitori tempted Misbah to go after it but failed to get on top of it and an outside edge carried to Hamilton Masakadza at first slip. Misbah fell after scoring 33, bringing an end to a 86-run stand for the fourth wicket.

Asad Shafiq then walked out to join Younis. He started off cautiously as Vitori was testing him with good line and length. He dispatched Vitori for a four to ease some nerves but continued to play a bit slowly.

A couple of overs later, Tendai Chatara cleaned up Shafiq with a delivery that was angled into him. There was a doubt about a front-foot no-ball but the decision remained out. At this stage, Pakistan had lost half their side for 211.

Brief scores:

Zimbabwe 294 and 30 for 1 (Tino Mawoyo 15*) lead Pakistan 230 (Younis Khan 77, Khurram Manzoor 51; Brian Vitori 5 for 60) by 94 runs.
