Zimbabwe lost quick wickets in their mammoth run chase despite Hamilton Masakadza offering a stoic resistance against mighty Australians, who are making merry against the tepid hosts who are constantly under pressure from the start. Zimbabwe lost experienced players in the form of Sean Williams, Matsyakeneri and skipper Elton Chigumbura.  Mitchell Johnson set the tone for Australia. Despite not taking wickets, he gave away a measly five runs of four overs while the likes of Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc and and Mitchell Starc took a wicket a piece.

Hamilton Masakadza reached his 24th half-century in the first One-Day International (ODI) of the tri-series against Australia at the Harare Sports Club. He has been fighting a lone battle. No other batsmen supported him on the other hand. As a result he could not maintain a strikerate that was required for this chase. Half the side is already back into the pavillion. They have realy struggled to score runs right from the beginning.
