Afghanistan have scored 24 runs for the loss of one wicket at the end of ten overs against Zimbabwe at the first One-Day International (ODI) at the Queens Sports Park at Bulawayo in Zimbabwe.
The visitors were put to bat by Zimbabwe skipper Brendan Taylor and faced jolts right from the start. The first over by Zimbabwean allrounder Tinashe Panyangara went for a maiden. Afghan opener Usman Ghani was dismissed in the next over after he was caught by Elton Chigumbura off Donald Tiripano’s bowling.
In came Asghar Stanikzai with the responsibility of steering Afghanistan towards safety. He and opener Noor Ali Zadran four boundaries to take Afghanistan to their current total of 24/1.
Panyangara and Tiripano on the other hand have enjoyed a disciplined spell of bowling and have figures of 5-1-10-0 and 5-3-14-1 respectively.
