Mark Vermeulen looked pretty emotional during the singing of the anthem. First Test in 10 years for him. #zimvsa

Zimbabwe were reasonably placed at 90-2 in the test match, but have now slipped to 120-5 #cricket #ZimvSA

Easily the most traditional, orthodox and convincing off spinner, I’ve seen for a long long time. #DanPiedt #ZIMvSA

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of Zimbabwe and South Africa one-off Test match at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday. This is Sandipan Banerjee, bringing you the updates of the first day’s play.
South Africa are coming off from a series win in Sri Lanka, and despite the absence of Jacques Kallis who retired from Test cricket earlier this year, they were able to start the new era on a positive note. Even though the major players have been rested, South Africa will still be a huge challenge for the Zimbabweans. South Africa’s key players will be returning to the team ahead of the tri-series against Australia and Zimbabwe. The bilateral three-match ODI series between the African countries will be sandwiched between the tri-series and the only Test.
Squads:
Zimbabwe: Brendan Taylor (c), Tendai Chatara, John Nyumbu, Richmond Mutumbami (wk), Vusi Sibanda, Donald Tiripano, Mark Vermeulen, Sean Williams, Regis Chakabva, Elton Chigumbura, Hamilton Masakadza, Curthbert Musoko, Tinashe Panyangara, Sikandar Raza, Malcolm Waller
South Africa: Hashim Amla (C), Dean Elagar, Alviro Petersen, Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers, Quinton de Kock (wk), JP Duminy, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Dane Piedt, Imran Tahir
